Requirements for
Trademark Registration in UAE
Registration of Trademarks is under Ministry of Economy in UAE. Anyone who wants to register their signs, slogans, logos as a trademark can apply and register for trademarks.
Documents required for
- Digital soft copy of trademark in black and white and in colour (jpeg format).
- Description of goods/services.
- Power of attorney for filing application.
- Applicant’s certificate of incorporation copy.
- Certificates of Trademark registration (if any).
- Legal translation the trademark including words etc.
- The classification of goods and services.
- An application is mandatory for each class of trademark.

Process of Trademark Registration
A trademark application process includes the following steps:
- The application is filed at the Ministry of Economy.
- The Ministry of Economy reverts on the application within 30 days from the date of submission.
- If the Ministry of Economy approves a trademark, it shall be announced in its bulletin and two Arabic newspapers before the registration at the expense of the applicant.
- Any objection to the registration of the trademark is filled by submitting a written complaint to the Ministry of Economy within 30 days from announcement. The Ministry of Economy notifies the applicant with a copy of objection to his application within 15 days.
If there is no objection, the registration is finalised. After the registration certificate is handed with:
- Trademark registration number.
- Trade name, nationality and place.
- Description of the products, goods or services.
- The estimated timeframe for the registration is between 8 to 12 months.
Duration of registered trademarks in UAE
Registered trademarks are valid for ten years from the filing date. The registration is renewable for another ten years.
